Keywords & rank tracking
Build your keyword library
Add keywords to your library and activate the ones you want to track.
On this page
Your keyword library is the full set of search terms you care about for a location. Adding keywords is free. You only use a tracking slot when you switch a keyword on. That means you can build a big library and choose exactly what to actively follow.
Add keywords to a location
- Go to Keywords in the dashboard.
- Choose the location.
- Add the terms you want, one at a time or in bulk.
New keywords land in your library at no cost. If you have spare tracking slots, they start active automatically; if not, they wait in the library until you activate them.
Activate the ones that matter
Switch a keyword on to start tracking its ranking over time. Only active keywords use a slot and get refreshed. Switch one off and the slot frees up for another term, while the keyword keeps its full history in your library.
Tip: Treat the library as your master list and slots as your attention budget. Track this month's priorities, and rotate others in later without ever losing past data.
How rankings refresh
Active keywords are re-checked on a cadence set by your plan: weekly on Starter, daily on Pro and above. Each check looks at your position across Google's organic results, the local pack, and AI surfaces, on both desktop and mobile.
Note: Rank tracking does not spend scan credits. Your tracking limit is about how many keywords are active at once, not a credit cost. See Keyword slots explained.
See your rankings
Open Rank tracker to see positions over time per location and per keyword, so you can watch trends as you optimise. To track on autopilot, set up a recurring rank-check schedule under Scheduled.
