ChatGPT Visibility

More and more customers start with an AI assistant, not a search box. When they ask ChatGPT for a local recommendation, you're either named in the response or you're invisible. ChatGPT Visibility turns the keywords you track into the real queries customers put to ChatGPT, then measures how often it names and cites you, how you compare with competitors, and the sources behind every response, with the full reply saved so you can read exactly what it said.

Why it's different

Built for the way local SEO actually works

Your visibility rate

How often ChatGPT's responses actually name you, check after check, so you watch the direction rather than guess from a single response.

Share of voice

Across the queries you track, how often you are named versus the competitors you care about, with a leaderboard of every business ChatGPT named in your place.

Read the response in full

Every reply is saved word for word, so you can read exactly what ChatGPT said and who it named. No black box, no numbers to take on trust.

The sources it trusts

The sites ChatGPT consulted to build its response, each with a freshness date. These are your citation targets, the pages to go earn or refresh.

How we measure it

How often ChatGPT names you, measured honestly

ChatGPT rewrites the query, pulls from sources you can't see, and writes a single response that varies from one check to the next. There is no fixed 'position one' to win or game. What is real, and what we measure, is presence: across the queries you track, checked on a schedule, how often does ChatGPT name you, cite you, or leave you out. We record how you showed up in every response, named in a shortlist, mentioned in the text, cited as a source, or absent, and turn that into a visibility rate and share of voice you can watch over time.

  • A visibility rate: how often ChatGPT's responses include you, check after check
  • Every response classified as shortlisted, mentioned, cited or absent
  • Share of voice against the competitors named in your place
  • Direction over time, because responses vary run to run and a single check isn't the story

Keywords, asked the way customers ask

We turn your keywords into real queries

A keyword on its own isn't how anyone talks to an assistant. So for each keyword you track, ChatGPT Visibility writes the real, contextual queries a customer would actually use, whether that's a question ('who's the best plumber in Leeds?') or a direct request ('find me a plumber in Leeds who can come out today'), with local intent built in, then puts each one to ChatGPT. Accept our suggestion, edit it, or write your own, and add a few angles per keyword to cover the different ways people phrase it. You see your visibility on the queries that actually send business your way, per location.

  • Queries generated from the keywords, services and locations you already track
  • Local intent built in, so 'near me' and city-level queries are covered
  • Accept, edit, or write your own queries, with a few angles per keyword
  • Per-location reporting for multi-site brands and agency client estates

From measurement to movement

See the gap, then close it where it counts

Measuring AI visibility is only useful if you can act on it. The same signals that put a business into ChatGPT's responses are the ones SearchOps already manages: consistent citations, brand mentions across the web, a complete Google Business Profile, and strong reviews. ChatGPT Visibility shows you where you're absent and who's named instead; your citation, brand-mention and GBP tools are how you change it.

  • Spot the queries where competitors are named and you're missing
  • See the exact sources feeding those responses, and how fresh they are, then go earn or refresh them
  • Tie gaps back to your citation consistency and brand-mention coverage
  • Watch whether your visibility rate and share of voice move after you ship the work, not just a one-off snapshot

How it works

Three steps from signup to insight

1

Pick a location and keywords

Choose the location you want to measure and the keywords you track for it. We use its services, categories and area to understand what customers would ask.

2

We turn them into queries and put them to ChatGPT

For each keyword we write the real queries a customer would use, then put every one to ChatGPT, once or on a repeating schedule.

3

Read your visibility

See your visibility rate, your share of voice against competitors, how you appeared in each response, and the sources ChatGPT trusted, with every response saved in full.

Credits

How it's billed

ChatGPT Visibility runs on your monthly AI Engine Visibility credits, a dedicated allowance included in every paid plan and kept separate from your geo-grid scan credits because querying ChatGPT is a different cost base. One credit is one query put to ChatGPT. The same allowance also pays for Gemini Visibility, so if you track both, a query checked on both uses two, and you choose which engines each check runs. Scheduled tracking batches your checks for you. Your allowance resets each month, and every other AI assist in SearchOps (agent review replies, keyword help, insights) is included in your plan and never touches it.

  • One credit is one query put to ChatGPT; add Gemini and the same query costs two
  • 300 credits on Starter, 900 on Pro, 1,500 on Agency each month
  • Checked on a repeating schedule, weekly by default, per location
  • Drawn from your AI Engine Visibility credits, never from your scan credits

FAQ

ChatGPT Visibility. Questions we get

No, and anyone who promises it is selling certainty that doesn't exist. ChatGPT doesn't return a fixed ranking, it writes a single response that varies from one check to the next. What we can do is measure your visibility honestly: across the queries your customers put to it, how often ChatGPT names, cites and recommends you versus your competitors, and whether that trend moves as you strengthen your brand signals.

It rules out one thing: nobody, us included, can reproduce the exact response one specific logged-in person sees, because that's shaped by their private history and is different for everyone. A human checking their own account only ever sees their own response, so it isn't a benchmark either. What personalisation changes is the ordering of a shortlist. It doesn't decide who's on the shortlist in the first place, and that's the part that matters for a new customer who's never heard of you. We measure that shared part: with the location fixed to your market, we track how often you're named, your share of voice against competitors, and the sources cited, as a trend over time rather than a single response. That signal moves when your visibility work pays off, which is exactly what you want to manage.

For the queries that grow a business, no. The personal context that most changes a response, someone's saved memory and past chats, mostly helps people who already know your brand, which is a retention effect. The customer worth winning is the one asking cold, with no history to personalise on, and that's the least personalised query there is, the one a fixed, repeatable check models best. It's also the only layer you can actually influence: you can't edit a stranger's ChatGPT memory, but you can strengthen the entity clarity, content and web-wide consensus that shape the shortlist for everyone. That's the layer we measure and the rest of the platform helps you improve.

Yes, as its own tool: Gemini Visibility. It uses the same queries you write here, so there is one setup, but each engine is measured separately so you can see where you're named in one and missing from the other. ChatGPT returns a ranked shortlist of local businesses, which gives the fullest competitor picture. Gemini grounds its answers in Google's own index, which makes it the closest read on how your Google Business Profile, citations and content show up in an AI answer. Both are checked for the location you're measuring, not nationally, so the results reflect your market. You choose which engines each check runs.

We turn the keywords you track into the real, contextual queries a customer would actually put to ChatGPT, whether that's a question ('who's the best plumber in Leeds?') or a direct request ('find me a plumber in Leeds who can come out today'), including local 'near me' and city-level intent. You can accept our suggestions, edit them, or write your own, and add a few angles per keyword to cover the different ways customers phrase it. The Coverage tab shows how much of your keyword set has queries written.

Google Search Visibility covers Google's own surfaces: classic results, the local pack, AI Overviews and AI Mode, tied to the keywords you rank for. ChatGPT Visibility covers ChatGPT itself, where there's no ranking to climb, only whether the response names you. Together they give you the full picture across the results page and the assistant.

The same way you earn trust everywhere else: consistent citations and NAP across the web, genuine brand mentions and coverage, a complete and active Google Business Profile, and strong reviews. AI assistants draw heavily on these signals when they decide who to recommend. SearchOps already manages all of them, so this feature tells you where you're losing and the rest of the platform helps you fix it.

Yes. We save every reply word for word, so you can open any query and read exactly what ChatGPT said, in what words, and who it named. Nothing is a black box or a number you have to take on trust.

No. ChatGPT is a trademark of OpenAI. SearchOps is not affiliated with OpenAI. We measure your visibility in ChatGPT independently, using the same kind of queries your customers would type.

The other half

Track Google as well

ChatGPT is one place customers now ask, but most still start on Google. Google Search Visibility tracks your rankings across classic results, the local pack, AI Overviews and AI Mode, so you see the full picture across both Google and ChatGPT in one platform.
