Getting started

Add your first location

Add a business location so SearchOps can match it in scans and rankings.

A location is the business you want to track. Adding one tells SearchOps exactly which business to look for in scans and rankings. Getting this right is the single most important setup step, because it is what lets a scan recognise which result on the map is you.

Add a location

  1. In the dashboard, go to Locations.
  2. Select Add location. This opens the Add New Location page.
  3. Start typing the business name in the Business Name field. As you type, Google Places suggestions appear.
  4. Pick your business from the suggestions. This is the important part. When you select a suggestion, SearchOps fills in the address, category, phone, website, and the precise map coordinates for you, and shows a green "Auto-filled from Google Places" confirmation.
  5. Check the details and save.

The fields you will see are Business Name (required), Full Address (required), Category, Phone Number, and Website. Only the name and address are required, but the more complete the record, the better.

Important: Always choose the business from the Google Places suggestions rather than only typing it in by hand. Selecting the suggestion attaches the listing's Place ID, which is the hidden link that lets scans identify you. Without it, scans cannot tell which pin on the map is yours.

Why the right match matters

Behind the scenes, a scan looks at the businesses ranking at each point on the map and matches yours by its Place ID and name. If your saved location is not linked to a real Google listing, your ranking will look missing even when you are actually showing up. See Why a scan can't find my business if that happens.

Importing many locations at once

If you add locations in bulk by CSV, some rows may come in without a Place ID. On the Locations page you will see a Fix Place IDs action that resolves them automatically by matching each business against Google. Run it before scanning so every location is recognisable.

Tip: Managing a multi-location brand? Add them all, run Fix Place IDs once, and they are ready to scan together.

How many locations can I add?

Your location allowance depends on your plan. Starter includes a fixed number; Pro and above are effectively unlimited. If you hit the limit, SearchOps prompts you to upgrade. See the pricing page for current numbers.
