Track ChatGPT Visibility
See whether ChatGPT names your business for the questions customers ask.
On this page
More and more customers ask ChatGPT for a local recommendation before they ever open Google. ChatGPT Visibility shows you whether ChatGPT names and cites your business when people ask the questions your customers actually ask.
What it tracks and why it matters now
ChatGPT Visibility watches the engine your customers increasingly use to find local providers: ChatGPT. When someone asks it "who's the best plumber in Manchester?", ChatGPT returns a written answer rather than a list of links. This feature tells you whether your business gets named, recommended or cited in that answer, and how often you show up against everyone else.
This matters because a recommendation inside ChatGPT often replaces the click that used to land on a search results page. If you are invisible there, you lose the customer before they even reach your website or your Google listing.
How prompts come from your keywords
You do not have to guess what people type into ChatGPT. The feature builds its prompts from the revenue keywords you already track, turning each one into the natural, conversational questions a real customer would ask. So the data stays anchored to the terms that actually win you work.
That makes your keyword library the foundation of accurate tracking. The more closely your tracked keywords match your real services and locations, the more relevant the prompts become.
Tip: Before you rely on ChatGPT Visibility, make sure your tracked terms are tidy. See Build your keyword library.
What the results show
Because ChatGPT is prompt-based, there is no ranking position to report. A written answer is not an ordered list, so we never invent an "AI rank". Instead you get two clear measures:
- Appearance: whether your business is named or cited for each question.
- Share of voice: how often you show up compared with other providers answering the same questions.
Real customers also phrase the same need in different ways, so each keyword is asked as more than one question. You see a consistency view, whether you are named however the question is phrased, and a trend over time rather than a single, misleading snapshot. Where ChatGPT cites its sources, you can see which pages it trusted, so you know what to strengthen.
How it differs from Google Search Visibility
ChatGPT Visibility and Google Search Visibility answer different questions, and you want both.
- Google Search Visibility covers Google's own surfaces: organic results, the local pack, AI Overviews and Google's AI Mode. It reports true ranking positions. See Track rankings in Google Search Visibility.
- ChatGPT Visibility covers ChatGPT, a standalone answer engine, and reports appearance and share of voice, not a rank.
Together they show the full picture: where you stand on Google, and where you stand when customers skip Google entirely.
Availability
ChatGPT Visibility is rolling out by plan. Depending on your account and where we are in the rollout, you may see it live, marked as a demo with sample data, or as an upcoming feature in your sidebar under Tracking.
Note: Even before it goes live for your account, the keywords you track now will power your results the moment it switches on. Keeping your library current is the best way to be ready.
