Analyse your data with Explore and Studio
Slice any metric into a pivot or chart in Explore, then keep the views you build on one filterable board in Studio.
On this page
Explore and Studio are the analytics side of SearchOps. Where a report is a tidy summary you hand to a client, Explore and Studio are for digging into your own numbers: slice any metric the way you want, then keep the views you build on a board you can check at a glance.
Where they live
Both sit under Reports in the sidebar:
- Explore (/dashboard/explore) is where you build a view.
- Studio (/dashboard/studio) is where your saved views live together.
You build in Explore and read in Studio, so they work as a pair.
Build a view in Explore
Explore lets you pivot and chart any metric across your data without exporting anything.
- Choose a data source: the domain you want to look at, such as your rankings or your scans.
- Pick what to break it down by, for example by keyword, by location, or over time.
- Choose the measure you care about, such as average position or local pack rate.
- Read the result as a pivot table or switch it to a chart.
- When a view is useful, save it and give it a name.
Tip: Give saved views clear names like "Local pack rate by keyword". The name is what you will see on your Studio board, so make it describe the answer at a glance.
Keep an eye on things in Studio
Studio gathers your saved views onto one board. Every view you save in Explore lands here as a tile.
The board has one filter bar across the top. Set the location and the period once, and every tile re-points at the same time, so you can read the whole board for one client or one month without touching each view. Leave the location set to each view's own choice if you would rather keep them independent.
Choose Arrange to drag and resize the tiles into the layout you want, then Done to lock it. Your layout is remembered on that device.
Note: Studio starts empty. Build a pivot or chart in Explore and save it, and it will appear here as a tile you can arrange and filter.
Explore and Studio, or a report?
They serve different jobs, and most people use both:
- Explore and Studio are for you: fast, interactive, and always live. Use them to answer a question or watch a number week to week.
- Reports are for sharing: a fixed, clean summary built for a client or your team. See Build client-ready reports.
Both read from the same data behind SearchOps, so what you see in Explore matches what you track across rankings, scans, and your Google Business Profile.
